ENGINEERING FIRE SAFETY

The Petrillo Office has been operating for more than 10 years in the field of fire performance design by providing flexible and economical design solutions through the principles of Fire Safety Engineering, which always ensure a high level of safety in the world.

    Our engineers, with multidisciplinary skills, deploy state-of-the-art technical modeling and simulation fluids that can describe the development of fire and the behavior of combustion products, as well as occupants in a complex building. Through our experience, we provide specialized support in the following areas of Fire Safety Engineering:

    - Simulation of flame / computational fluid dynamics;

    - Evacuation routes / evacuation models;

    - Thermal and structural analysis with natural fire curves;

    - Effectiveness of active protection systems;

    - Transmission of heat;

    ATEX regulation: analysis and assessment of risks in the event of an explosion

    The Petrillo Office specializes in determining the extent of areas of hazardous locations where they may be exposed to the presence of flammable gases, mists or vapors and combustible dusts in such quantities as to require Specific measures for the construction, installation, operation and maintenance of electrical equipment for use in such places and for the drafting of the document for the assessment of risks for explosive atmospheres under Title XI of the Decree-Law No 81/08.

    Article 293 of Legislative Decree No. 81/08 requires the employer that areas where explosive atmospheres may occur are divided into zones in accordance with Annex XLIX. Each type of zone, which qualitatively defines the probability of formation of an explosive atmosphere, is generated from one or more emission sources (SE), namely a point or part of an installation / equipment from which an inflammable or combustible agent capable of generating an explosive atmosphere may be emitted into the atmosphere. The classification document in the ATEX areas of the workplace is undoubtedly a very important and crucial source of information on the risk of explosion referred to Article 290 of Legislative Decree n. 81/08, which covers only one relevant aspect of the risk assessment: if the formation of an explosive atmosphere is a necessary condition for an explosion, it is not said that such an explosion may occur, or it has very serious effects or, finally, that workers must necessarily be involved.
    In fact, in order to assess the risk of workers, it is necessary to take into account the whole chain of events:

    ing

    Each of the blocks in the system requires an assessment, while the risk assessment for workers is derived from the result of the probability and damage estimates. It is thus necessary to take into account, for the purposes of the ATEX risk assessment, that it is not enough to have the zone classification document.
